The original Temple had seen several renovations and additions throughout its history. As a result, many of the original details of this neo-classical, colonial revival building were hidden, missing or damaged. The goal became restoring and repairing original details where possible and reimagining original intent and function where necessary.
One strategy for beginning a historic renovation is to look for precedents in other buildings of the same age, style and grandeur. But the Mesa Temple has no equals — it is a true original treasure. Through the cooperation of Church historians, a trove of photographs and our own archaeological investigation, we discovered the Mesa Temple is its own precedent.
This project was a seven-year collaboration between the owner, design team, contractor and hundreds of specialized manufacturers and trades, all working together to achieve a beautifully renovated historic landmark.
