I-CAN-ic Utah

In a powerful display of community spirit and creative ingenuity, the 2024 CANstruction Salt Lake City event, organized by AIA Utah and hosted by Property Reserve Inc. (PRI), invited architects, engineers and construction professionals to come together in the fight against hunger. On Nov. 11, design professionals constructed innovative sculptures using canned food, all of which were donated to the Utah Food Bank at the event’s conclusion. This year, over 20,000 cans of food were donated!

Laura Tungseth of Mohawk Group led the revival of the event, along with co-chairs Jeff Bolinger, GSBS, and Angie Harris Roberts, AIA Utah. This year’s theme, “I-CAN-ic Utah,” inspired participants to draw from the state’s rich natural beauty, cultural landmarks and sense of community pride. We’re excited to announce the winners of CANstruction Salt Lake City!

This event would not be possible without the contributions of the firms and businesses who supported their teams, Associated Food Stores for providing discounted cans of food, HB for the use of their warehouse and Mohawk Group and Kimball International for covering the cost of events.

This event will return in 2025 so keep your eyes out for more information in Punchlist. If you would like to be part of the planning committee, please contact Angie Harris Roberts at ahroberts@aiautah.org
